Il dibattito intorno all’AI e alle sue applicazioni sviluppate negli ultimi 12-18 mesi è tutt’altro che maturo, almeno, nel settore dell’architettura e del design. L’approccio che sto adottando è quello di chi indaga i metodi, le applicazioni, scopre i protagonisti e cerca di interpretare il lavoro degli altri, poi mi estraneo e per 2 settimane non ne voglio sapere, fino a che torno con un’idea per applicare quello che ho visto per come l’ho capito. In questo caso sono partito da alcune immagini generate con il supporto dell’AI, le fasi successive per la realizzazione di una serie di vasi ispirati alla natura, alla geologia, alla pietra naturale, a quella artificiale ricomposta, sono la parte nascosta dell’iceberg. E’ il mio metodo per capire come si possa andare oltre alle speculazioni teoriche, alle immagini superficiali da cui si è troppo lontani; per non frustrare le proprie aspettative, ma anzi per orientarle verso un risultato funzionale, estetico, reale.

The debate surrounding AI and its applications developed in the last 12-18 months is far from mature, at least in the field of architecture and design. The approach I am taking is that of an investigator delving into methods, applications, discovering the key players, and attempting to interpret the work of others. Then, I detach myself and for 2 weeks, I want nothing to do with it. Until I return with an idea to apply what I have seen as I understood it. In this case, I started from some images generated with the support of AI. The subsequent phases for creating a series of vases inspired by nature, geology, natural stone, and even the reconstituted artificial counterpart, constitute the hidden part of the iceberg. This is my method to transcend mere theoretical speculations and superficial images that we are too distanced from, in order to not only avoid frustrating one’s own expectations but also to guide them toward a functional, aesthetic, and tangible outcome.
