Sea Stone is a material created by NewTab-22, a designer duo based in London and Seoul. The material uses shells discarded from the fishing and aquaculture industry, basically composed of calcium carbonate, one of the elements that make up cement. The shells are crushed and put together with sand and natural binders that harden them, forming a material similar to concrete, but without the consequences of the production of cement, which requires the extraction of minerals from the soil. By using the shells, the impact of the production of the material is reduced and the shells that would otherwise be discarded are given a new use.

The material is available in tiles that serve as a covering for interiors. The crushing and the mixture used give the material different appearances. The result is a beautiful and sustainable material, which brings in a connection with nature.
